Teresa & Jeremiah
I recently had the absolute pleasure of photographing a Trash the Dress at Cenote Cristalino, one of the most beautiful cenotes in Xpu-Ha, Mexico. Surrounded by lush jungle and filled with crystal-clear turquoise waters, this location is pure magic for underwater wedding photography. It’s peaceful, vibrant, and full of natural light that makes every image come alive.
The couple, Teresa and Jeremiah, were a dream to photograph during our Trash the Dress at Cenote Cristalino. I had already captured their wedding just a few days earlier, so this shoot felt like an extension of their celebration — only more relaxed and creative. A trash the dress shoot is the perfect way to let go, have fun, and make unforgettable memories after the wedding day.
We began our adventure on dry land, exploring the jungle paths and the rocky edges of the cenote. The soft golden light filtering through the trees created a beautiful natural glow. Jeremiah looked incredibly elegant in his white tuxedo, while Teresa wore her stunning wedding gown, flowing gracefully with every step. It was a perfect contrast — the refined elegance of their outfits against the wild, untamed beauty of the Mexican jungle.
Before diving in, we decided to include a boudoir segment — a quiet, intimate moment that allowed Teresa to express her confidence and femininity. It was a beautiful way to transition from the formal energy of the wedding day into something more personal and free-spirited. Those images turned out to be some of my favorites because they capture a side of her that feels real, soft, and powerful at the same time.
Once we were ready to get in the water, the real fun began. Shooting underwater couple portraits is always a challenge and a thrill. Everything moves differently, the dress floats, the hair dances, and the light bends in unexpected ways. Teresa slipped into her wedding gown again for the first underwater part, and the results were absolutely breathtaking. The fabric floated around her like a cloud, creating a dreamlike, ethereal effect as she and Jeremiah moved gracefully through the clear cenote water.
Teresa also brought in a flowing red dress fabric, which added an incredible artistic touch. Against the turquoise tones of Cenote Cristalino, the red fabric created a stunning visual contrast, it looked like a painting coming to life. The photos from that sequence are full of movement, passion, and color, perfectly reflecting the energy and love between Teresa and Jeremiah.
Throughout the day, we laughed, played, and explored ideas together. What made this session so special was not just the breathtaking scenery or the creative concept, but the connection we shared. Spending the entire day together outside the wedding day allowed us to relax and enjoy the process. Teresa and Jeremiah are such a kind, loving couple, and working with them reminded me why I love what I do.
Every photo tells a story, a story of love, freedom, and trust. And this shoot at Cenote Cristalino will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s not every day that you get to photograph such an adventurous and genuine couple in such a stunning natural setting.
For couples planning a destination wedding in Mexico, a Trash the Dress at Cenote Cristalino is an incredible way to celebrate your love story in a unique and unforgettable way. Whether it’s Cenote Cristalino, Cenote Azul, or any of the other hidden gems in the Riviera Maya, the combination of water, light, and emotion creates images that are simply magical.
If you’re dreaming about your own cenote photo shoot or underwater wedding photography session in Mexico, I’d love to create something beautiful with you.
